The mystery twin flight!

This past weekend was so much fun! I bought a plane ticket a long time ago to fly up to Baltimore for Eric's sister's bachelorette weekend (and 30th birthday celebration)! But it didn't occur to me until much later that the twins would still be less than 2 years old and could fly for free with me! So I asked Eric's parents if I could drop off one of the girls for the weekend. Sadly I could only take one with me! But I knew it would be a win/win situation all around: whoever came with me would get one-on-one time with me, and lots of attention from their grandparents. The girl who stayed home would get lots of attention from their daddy and siblings. Both of them would get a little taste of what it's like to be a singleton! (And Eric would only have 3 kids to take care of for the weekend instead of 4!) It was a perfect opportunity to live out our twin-parenting philosophy as prescribed in my favorite twin book: parents should spend time with each twin individually as much as possible. Never assume that they can't be apart from each other... If you never separate them, how will they ever learn to be??
So our mind was made up about doing it, but not about which girl to take with me! I just couldn't make up my mind and I probably over-analyzed it! Who would be the best behaved on the plane?  Who would adapt better to a few nights in a new crib in a new house?  Who would benefit from more one-on-one time?  I had just spent quite a bit of time alone with Lyla while waiting for her doctor appointments when she broke where leg. So the night before we left, without telling anyone, I grabbed Zoey's birth certificate!

The next morning on the plane I took a picture of Zoey wearing a hat to cover we hair (since that would be a dead giveaway) and posted it on Instagram and Facebook, asking people to guess who I brought with me. Funny thing is: everyone on Instagram guessed Lyla and everyone on Facebook guessed Zoey! In my opinion, it really does look more like Zoey with those full cheeks!

But I took a few other pics of Zoey that morning that I think look more like Lyla! It's crazy how much they look alike when you take the hair out of the equation!

Anyway, Zoey was very well behaved on the plane and had a great time with G-ma and Hansi!

Eric survived his weekend with Lyla, Chase, and Siena. And meanwhile I had a blast with Katie and her other bridesmaids and friends! We were in Pennsylvania at the Seven Springs ski resort... so fun!
